Swimming at Lake Viverone
The Lake Viverone beaches are mostly lidos: fenced shore areas with a ticket, changing cabins and a stretch of lake. The main one is a lido that combines a pool with a lake solarium. Four named bathing zones are monitored for water quality, and all four were rated Excellent for 2022–2025.
The monitoring season in 2026 ran from 15 May to 30 September. If you want to pair a swim with a trip away from the lake, see our guide to Piedmont wine tours and day trips. Prices below are in euros, as listed for 2026.

The four bathing zones
Official classification for 2022–2025.
| Bathing zone | Class | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Anzasco | Excellent | Named bathing zone at Anzasco |
| Campsite zone | Excellent | A monitoring zone at a campsite, so it does not give you a right to enter the grounds |
| Viverone | Excellent | Named bathing zone at the lido of Viverone |
| Masseria (Comuna) | Excellent | Named bathing zone near Comuna |
The rating covers several years. It tells you the water has been consistently good, not how clear it is today or whether a lifeguard is on duty. The Excellent class applies to Viverone only and says nothing about Lake Candia, which has its own rating. For most visitors, a named lido is the simplest choice, because you get a defined bathing area, facilities and a ticket price you can plan around.
Main lido: 2026 prices and hours
Adult and child day tickets, with the cheaper afternoon and evening rates.
| Ticket | Weekdays | Saturday and day before a holiday | Sunday |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full day, adult | €15 | €16 | €20 |
| Full day, child | €10 | €11 | €12 |
| From 2 p.m., adult | €10 | €12 | €15 |
| From 2 p.m., child | €7 | €9 | €10 |
| From 5 p.m., adult and child | €6 | €6 | €6 |
Extras cost a little more. A lounger is €5 on Saturdays, days before holidays and Sundays. A changing cabin is €3 plus a €5 deposit, and a locker is €2 plus a €5 deposit. The lido reopened on 30 and 31 May and 1 and 2 June 2026 and then opened daily from 6 June, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no reservation needed. Ask at the ticket desk about the age limit for the child rate. For a closing date or autumn hours, check before you drive out.
For most visitors, the weekday ticket from 2 p.m. at €10 is good value if you only want a few hours at the lake. Families planning a full beach day should count on the full-day weekday ticket and arrive on a weekday, when it is cheapest.
Is Lake Viverone safe to swim in?
In the monitoring season, yes, at the named bathing zones. Three different things are often mixed up. The multi-year class says the water has been consistently good. The monitoring season, 15 May to 30 September in 2026, is when the regional agency takes samples and also checks for cyanobacteria. The regional bathing rules set a legal season of 15 June to 15 September, and a municipality can bring the start forward by up to 45 days and extend the end by up to 30 days.
Algae can appear in summer. After contact with the water, wash off, and do not let dogs drink lake water. Outside the monitoring season, the summer rating says nothing about the water on the day, so treat an autumn swim as at your own risk. Local rules for dogs in the water and the hours of lifeguards are not the same at every lido, so ask on the spot.

Boat, kayak and fishing on the lake
What else you can do on the water.
Boat to the shore stops
The lake boat calls at the Lido, Anzasco and Masseria. Adults pay €6 and children up to 6 years pay €2, paid on board. Masseria is served only after a phone reservation. In autumn the boat runs on weekend afternoons in October and on Sunday afternoons from November to March, weather permitting. Groups can arrange trips.
Kayak, SUP and pedal boat
The main lido rents kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and pedal boats at €10 per hour each. That is separate from the entry to the pool area. Anyone driving a boat should carry the required safety equipment.
Fishing permits
Fishing at Viverone needs a municipal permit on top of the regional licence. Since 1 April 2026 you buy it through HOOKING with pagoPA. Day tickets cost €12 from a boat, €7 from the shore and €8 for carp fishing from the shore. Annual permits for non-residents cost €300 for a boat, €120 for the shore and €170 for carp fishing. Registration is free.

Is this site run by the municipality of Viverone?
No. This is an independent travel guide. It is not run by the municipality, the Biella tourist board or any lido, and it is not an official site.
